Imran Khan's last act as prime minister

Former special assistant to prime minister and senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Shahbaz Gill on Sunday revealed former prime minister Imran Khan’s last act as the country’s chief executive. In a tweet, he said that before leaving office, Imran approved Principal Secretary Azam Khan’s request for reporting to the Establishment Division. Gill said that the ex-premier praised Azam’s professionalism and said that he fulfilled his responsibilities with utmost honesty and diligence. It is worth noting here that Imran was ousted from office after the joint opposition successfully passed a no-confidence motion against him in the National Assembly (NA). Read more: PTI protests against ‘foreign conspiracy’ against Imran Khan Prior to the vote, after the daylong session, then-NA speaker Asad Qaiser resigned on the floor of the house and asked Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Ayaz Sadiq to take charge as the acting speaker. Sadiq initiated voting on the said motion, wherein 174 votes were cast against the government. Following the count, Imran ceased to hold office and the PTI was removed from power. The rebel members of the ex-ruling party did not cast their vote on the said motion.
