The Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan called on army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed regional security besides other issues, the military said on Tuesday. "Tapas Adhikari, Ambassador of Nepal, called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi today," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement. It further said that during the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and measures to improve bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed. H.E. "The COAS reiterated that all regional countries need to work collectively for enduring peace and stability in the region," it added. Also read: Pakistan wants peaceful, close ties with neighbours: COAS Concluding, the ISPR said the visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional stability and pledged to play his part in further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels. Late last month, Gen Qamar said Pakistan wanted peaceful and close ties with its neighbours. He expressed the views during a meeting with Commander Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force Brigadier General Pilot Hamid Vahedi at the GHQ in Rawalpindi. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and bilateral cooperation between the two countries were discussed. The COAS was quoted as saying Pakistan wanted peaceful and close ties with its neighbours and stressed the need for collective efforts towards regional stability. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the defence and security fields.
