The annual meeting of the Association of Electronic Media Editors and Directors of News (AEMAND) elected new office-bearers and members of the Executive Committee for the next two years. Accordingly, Azhar Abbas of Geo News was elected President; Ayaz Khan of Express News, Senior Vice President; Ammad Yousaf of ARY, Vice President; Hafiz Tariq Mahmood of News One, General Secretary; Muhammad Usman of Neo News and Mian Tahir of 24 News, joint secretaries; and Shahab Mahmood of Abb Takk News, Finance Secretary. For the executive committee, Zahid Mazhar of Dawn News, Farhan Malik of Samaa News, Rashid Mahmood of Aaj News, Muhammad Malik of Hum News, Habib Akram of Dunya News, Fawad Khursheed of Public News, Awais Baloch of Vsh TV, Mubarak Ali of Khyber TV and Naushad Ali of Digital Media were elected. The AEMEND meeting also reviewed in detail the overall situation of the media in the country and the problems facing the journalists and the channels. The meeting emphasised on training of journalists and strengthening the role of editors to make the code of conduct for news channels more effective. The meeting also passed various resolutions.
