Rawalpindi police on Sunday registered a case against a man accused of raping and filming a woman after luring her for marriage. The case was registered at the New Town Police station against the man, identified as Muntazir Mehdi, on the complaint of the victim. According to the victim, who hails from Swat, the two began interacting on social media two years ago and became friends. The woman added they soon started to talk about tying the knot, with the man eventually asking her to travel to Rawalpindi to solemnize the nikah. Also read: Man held for blackmailing woman into having illicit relations for one year When she arrived in the city, the suspect then asked the woman to book a room at a hotel, saying he would soon arrive. She added that she booked the room, and went out for dinner when he finally arrived. When they returned, he allegedly subjected her to sexual assault and filmed her as he did so. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she spoke about her ordeal. The victim further said that the man was now resorting to blackmail, threatening he would make her obscene video viral on social media. Police officials said that they have started a probe into the case after registering a case against the accused. The woman, in her statement, had said that the suspect, Mohammad Aqeel, would also blackmail her using inappropriate photos and videos he took while they fornicated on false promises of marriage. Police had also stated that the accused will be challaned with solid evidence to ensure a strict punishment to him.
