Anti kite-flying voluntary force set up

A voluntary force has been set up in Rawalpindi to discourage the controversial sport of kite-flying and to spread awareness about its potential hazards. The ‘Anti Kite-Flying Volunteers’ will launch an educational campaign in schools, colleges, universities, offices and public places to achieve their goal of a ‘Kite-Free Pakistan’. These views were expressed in a joint statement by Babar Aurangzeb Chaudhry, Yasir Farooq Usman, Muhammad Jamal, Haseeb Arshad and Usman Feroze, the founders of the voluntary body. “Our aim is to discourage the youth from kite-flying and to divert their attention towards healthier activities,” said the founders. “The purpose of the platform is to take a practical stand against the kite-seller mafia and to play a responsible role as a citizen.” Anyone who wishes to join the force will be welcomed without discrimination, they added.
