A suspect was arrested in Sindh's Sanghar district on Sunday after he allegedly gunned down a local "journalist". According to the police, suspect Ali Murad was taken into custody along with the weapon which he used in the killing of Ghulam Murtaza Shar. Sources told The Express Tribune that the incident took place due to a personal quarrel between the suspect and Murtaza. Soon after the incident the SSP Sanghar took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry. He claimed that the police had contacted Sanghar Press Club President Anjum Aftab who told him that the deceased did not belong to the journalist community. He further said that search for another suspect of the killing of Ali Nawaz is underway whereas more details will be revealed in this regard after further investigation. Meanwhile, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, taking to Twitter, said that the security of journalists in interior Sindh has become a challenge. Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh, while condemning the incident, said that the killing of a journalist in broad daylight was a shameful act for the police. "Killings of journalists have become a normality in Sindh... those who give lectures on freedom of speech in Islamabad are silent on killings of journalists in the province," he added. The PTI leader also said that the killers of Aziz Memon and Ajay Lalwani have high ranks in PPP's Sindh chapter.
