At least 17 people died while 1023 were injured in 999 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of this, 584 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals while 439 lightly injured victims were treated at the incident sites. The majority (67%) involved motorbikes. Further, the analysis showed that 440 drivers, 51 underage drivers, 148 pedestrians, and 452 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 258 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 278 people placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 73 in Multan with 70 victims and Faisalabad with 68 RTCs and 73 victims. The details further reveal that 1040 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 859 males and 181 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 186 were under 18 years of age, 543 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 311 victims were reported to be above 40 years of age. According to the data 880 motorbikes, 116 rickshaws, 121 motorcars, 40 vans, 15 passenger buses, 29 trucks and 114 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
