The Rawat police on Sunday arrested 47 people for placing bet on dogfighting and also confiscated bet money, 40 mobile phones, five vehicles, motorcycles and four dogs. The police said that on a tip-off about the dogfighting and gambling, they cordoned off the place and conducted a raid immediately. The arrested suspects include Abdul Majeed, Amjad Mehmood, Muhammad Yaqub, Mamoon Khurshid, Waqar Ahmed, Imran Riaz, Raza Asif, Sajid Mehmood, Mubeen Azmat, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Nadeem, Bilal, Haq Nawaz, Hakeem Khan, Muhammad Javed, Muhammad Kamran, Shoaib, Waqas Ahmed, Asad, Shahvez, Ghulam Mustafa, Muhammad Bilal, Javed Khan, Mohammad Tauqeer, Bilal Hussain, Aksir Akhtar, Muhammad Shabbir, Shahid Ali, Nadeem Akhtar, Mubashir Iqbal, Rashid, Haroon, Sajjad, Ehsanul Haq, Roshan Ali, Muzaffar, Asad Hayat, Bahamand, Muhammad Siddique, Ajmal, Alamgir, Akhtar, Manzoor Hussain, Nadeem and others. Cash worth over Rs25,000, 40 mobile phones, five vehicles, a motorcycle and four dogs were also seized from the spot, the police said. A case has been registered against the accused.
