PM Imran inaugurates academic blocks at Al-Qadir University

Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed on reviving the culture of the glorious Muslim era as he inaugurated academic blocks at the Al Qadir University Monday During his address, the premier emphasised on practicing ‘Ijtehad’ (reasoning) for finding out solutions to emerging challenges. "Strong faith and moral character is a blessing of the Almighty; they guide a person to choose the righteous path," the premier said. He added that the era of social media has got today’s youth confused as it provided unhindered access to the western culture. However, the premier added that since restrictions cannot be imposed on the flow of information it was important to offer “informed choices” to the youth by teaching them to differentiate between right and wrong. To avoid any future blasphemous incidents from being committed against the Prophet (PBUH) globally, he said he would encourage the nation to rather demonstrate an “intellectual and reasoned response”. He regretted that calling someone 'Kaafir' (infidel) over a difference of opinion on religious beliefs was a dangerous trend, that needed to be shunned through intellectual debates. The prime minister mentioned that his government introduced the singular national curriculum to end the unjustified three parallel education systems - English and Urdu mediums and madrassas. He said the this was resulting in the creation of ideologically different streams of youth in the society. "The objective of establishming the Rehmatul-lil -Alameen Authority by the government was to promote the message of Islam in a manner that could be understood by a common man," he said. Read Govts yet to submit reply on plea for free education PM Imran expressed satisfaction over the pace of Al Qadir University in carrying out academic work in a short span and emphasised conducting research on the golden era of Muslims where its leaders, scholars and scientists ruled the world. "Universities had a great role to play in this regard," he said, as he expressed confidence that Al Qadir University would revive the norms of research and healthy debates. He mentioned that Iqbal’s concept of ‘Shaheen’ (falcon) was related to a determined nation with the courage to break the shackles of mental slavery to attain progress. "Pakistan came into being in the name of Islam," the premier said. He stressed that real prosperity cannot be achieved without following the Prophet (PBUH)'s teachings. The premier pointed out that majority of the Pakistani nation, despite being staunch Muslims, had still not instilled the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) in their practical lives. "Islam’s first socio-welfare state of Medina focused on self-accountability and high morals," he added. "Even today, becoming a great nation required a strong moral character with a belief in truth and socio-justice equality for all." Imran criticised the previous governments for looting the public money. He said that at a recent event held in Islamabad, "an absconder leader was invited to speak as a chief guest", which he termed the "height of moral decline". "The moral fabric of a nation gets ruined if it stops recognising corruption and dishonesty as evils," he added. The premier stressed that he wanted the nation to attain a “moral renaissance” and raise leaders from within having a high moral character in line with the Prophet (PBUH)'s teachings. He further informed that work on the Prime Minister House university was about to start since necessary formalities had been carried out in the last three-and-a-half years. The prmier said the university would turn into a top technological institute. Later, the prime minister took a round of different academic blocks of the university and interacted with the faculty.
