The Rawalpindi administration and motorway police have expedited the implementation of a plan to keep the roads in Murree clear during the snow season. All heavy and light machinery had been procured to clear roads of the snow in the hill station. Additional traffic wardens will be deployed next month to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. According to officials, the new traffic plan will be issued in the first 10 days of December. Tenders worth Rs10.29 million had been issued for the procurement of raw material and the necessary equipment to remove the snow from the roads. Officials said that the contract will be issued on December 15 and the company will have to supply the material and equipment on an emergency basis. Read Ring Road project gets another life The snow season has been declared in Murree for three months and will continue until the last week of March. The highway police, traffic police, the district administration and the civil defence department had been tasked with the responsibility to clear the snow from the roads immediately. Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Ali said that foolproof security arrangements were being made during the snowfall season and quick clearance of roads will also be ensured.
