Dengue cases drop in Islamabad

The number of dengue patients has started to decline with the corresponding drop in temperature. During the last 24 hours, only 46 cases were reported. However, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia revealed that one patient died during this time. According to the DHO, the death toll from dengue has risen to eight in rural areas and six in urban areas, while the total number of dengue-related deaths in the capital has reached 14. The total number of dengue patients in the city has risen to 3643. Zia said that 634 dengue cases were brought to Holy Family Hospital (HFH) Rawalpindi, 154 to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) Rawalpindi, 44 to District Head Quarters (DHQ) Hospital Rawalpindi, 371 to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), 112 to Polyclinic Hospital, 402 to Federal General Hospital and 69 to Capital Development Authority (CDA) Hospital. According to the DHO, dengue was confirmed in over 1,700 patients in private hospitals and laboratories across Twin Cities. He added that out of the total cases in Islamabad, 2084 cases were from rural areas, while 1559 cases were from urban areas. Meanwhile, in neighbouring Rawalpindi, 75 more dengue cases arrived in the three public sector hospitals of the city during the last 24 hours, raising the tally of confirmed cases 2546. District Coordinator Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC) Dr Sajjad Mehmood said on Monday that among the new cases, HFH registered 37, DHQ registered 21, and BBH registered 17 in the past 24 hours.
