Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday said that the focus of the Pakistan Army has remained on enhancing conventional capability including ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance), air defence, cyber and mechanisation despite challenges, the military said. According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Qamar visited headquarter of Southern Command Multan. He was given a detailed briefing on operational, training and administrative matters of the formation. Read more: Army inducts HQ-9/P air defence system Later, it added, the COAS visited Kot Abdul Hakim to witness integrated training of strike corps troops busy in practicing drills and procedures involving the crossing of major water obstacles as part of the offensive maneuver. The army chief also interacted with participants of exercise, it added. "Pakistan Army is a well-trained and battle-hardened cohesive force ready to take on any challenge confronting defence and security of Pakistan," he remarked. "Only a well-trained army equipped with future battlefield technologies can safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country," General Qamar emphasised. Earlier on arrival at HQ southern command, the army chief was received by Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Muhammad Chiragh Haider.
