Another 121 citizens of Islamabad were tested positive for the dengue virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total infections to 3,300. So far, the mosquito-borne disease has caused 11 fatalities in the federal capital, seven of who were were from rural areas and four from urban areas. Islamabad District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia said that 604 cases were brought to the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) in Rawalpindi. Moreover, 146 infected patients visited the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 43 to the Rawalpindi District Headquarters Hospitals, 312 to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, 108 to Polyclinic Hospital, 372 to the Federal General Hospital Islamabad and 64 to the Capital Development Authority Hospital Islamabad. The Islamabad DHO said that more than 1,500 infected residents of the federal capital visited private hospitals and laboratories of the twin cities. He added that 1,944 dengue cases have emerged from rural areas of the federal capital, while 1,383 have surfaced in the urban areas so far. Meanwhile, 51 citizens contracted the dengue virus in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, while nine of the admitted patients were reported to be in critical condition.
