Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Nadeem Ahmed Abro visited the Ammar Chowk project to review the ongoing development works. The project team informed the MD the project has been pending for the last 12 years, but now the government of the Punjab, with the help of RDA and Station Headquarters Rawalpindi, have started the construction work. The development work is in full swing at present. In view of the growing population and traffic congestion, the project has undergone some significant changes, including the addition of twin underpasses, under grounding of H.T and L.T cables and the addition of a new service line and reinforced earth panel. Steps have also been taken to make the surrounding area clean and green. Read Development projects stopped in 70 Pindi UCs During the construction work, they have taken immense care to ensure that the people have the least difficulty and do not have to worry about restricted mobility. Replying to a question about the completion of the project, the project team expressed hope that the development work of Ammar Chowk would be completed by the end of the year. He added that despite Covid-19 pandemic and the harsh current monsoon season, the development work is going on round the clock. Several years ago, the project was estimated at Rs754 million, but because of the recent increase in cost of construction materials, technical and design changes, up-gradation of various components and inclusion of additional work, the cost of the project will now be Rs1,307 million.
