Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has said transparency and merit in universities will be ensured at all costs. “Full attention is being paid on research in the universities for the first time.” He expressed these views while addressing 30th Senate Session of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) on Wednesday. Member of Punjab Assembly Nadeem Abbas, Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Additional Secretary Dr Asif Tufail, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid, additional secretary finance, KEMU Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Masood Gondal and other members of the Senate attended the meeting. The minutes of the 29th session were also approved during the Senate session and the KEMU VC presented details of achievements. Read Medical university languishes in desolation Sarwar added, “Along with combating Covid-19, the people have to fulfill their responsibilities to prevent dengue and the incumbent government is ensuring all measures to provide best health facilities to the people.” He further said that all universities’ vice chancellors in Punjab had been appointed on merit by the government. “The culture of nepotism and political interference in institutions is being eliminated because it undermines merit and transparency,” he stated. “We have to strengthen institutions in order to set the country on the road to progress.
