The police arrested Mufti Shahnawaz from the courtroom after he surrendered for his polygraphy and potency tests in the student molestation case on Wednesday. The arrest was done in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Aijaz Asif as the court dismissed the interim bail of the seminary head. Meanwhile, the court extended the bail of the female teacher who is said to be an accomplice in the molestation case until September 4. The court ordered to complete all forensic tests of the victim and suspects and to submit a report regarding it in the next hearing. All nominees in the case will be taken to the forensic laboratory in Lahore today (Thursday). Read Seminary head denies rape allegations At the onset of the hearing, the principal’s lawyer Talat Mehmood Zaidi showed confidence in the joint investigation team (JIT). JIT Headquarters SP Zunera Ahmed informed the court that they still have to recover the weapon from the suspect which he showed to the victim for intimidating her. She added that the victim’s clothes are in the closet of the female teacher that need to be recovered. The SP further said they need both suspects for polygraph and potency tests and pleaded with the court to dismiss their interim bails. She also sought physical remand of the suspects. The defence lawyer said that Shahnawaz is ready to surrender but he will argue for the female teacher as there is no reason to arrest her.
