A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF) Pakistan to promote research activities and joint ventures for the protection of biodiversity. Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Naveed Akhtar and World Wildlife Fund for Nature Chief Executive Officer Hammad Naqi signed the agreement on behalf of their organisations. Reportedly, the two institutes will conduct training programmes and workshops to enhance the capacity of the personnel, especially faculty members and researchers for better conservation results. “Joint research projects will be conducted and environmental awareness will be inculcated among students and the general public,” the IUB pro vice chancellor said. Read Tribal districts get agricultural research centres Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Iqbal Bandisha and Director Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies Dr Tanveer Hussain Turabi were also present on the occasion. “It is noteworthy that the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, active in 100 countries around the world, has been working with public and private institutions in Pakistan for over 40 years,” Hammad Naqi highlighted during the meeting adding that the organisation works on sensitising people about the efficient use of environmental and natural resources.
