The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) will procure total of 940 new vehicles for primary waste collection to solve sanitation problems of the city on permanent basis. The company has already received first batch of 246 vehicles. The company has organised an inauguration ceremony after delivery of vehicles here on Wednesday. The ceremony was attended by Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal and senior officials of the LWMC. Speaking to media, Dr Rashid underlined that the LWMC has taken all possible steps to introduce self-sufficient model for the cleanliness of Lahore and worked for the wider interest of the citizens. Read LWMC awards waste collection contracts The company has made important decisions on an emergency basis and ensured the availability of all items while meeting the shortage of resources, including the procurement and delivery of the new vehicles. As per vision of the provincial government, the LWMC has introduced a sustainable, integrated and affordable system to solve the sanitation problems of the city. The new vehicles are being procured, which include rickshaws, tractor loaders, chain arm rolls, mini dumpers, excavators, dumpers, mechanical washers, mechanical sweepers and compactors.
