Four women, including two girls, were killed when a three-storey under-construction building caved in on Sargodha Road. Rescue 1122 personnel removed the injured from the wreckage and shifted them to hospital. The four bodies were handed over to the area police. The police later handed them over to the families after postmortem. According to sources, a wall of the house of Shaukat Ali, a resident of Sargodha Road, was under construction. The deceased included 28-year-old Shumaila, seven-year-old Umm-e-Habiba, 24-year-old Ayesha and three-year-old Zameer Shafaqat, while 30-year-old Shehzad Abdullah, 25-year-old Yaseen and 10-year-old Zunaira Shafqat were injured. A large number of locals gathered on the spot after the roof collapse incident was reported. Nishatabad police handed over the bodies to the heirs after completing legal formalities. A day earlier, at least five children were killed and three injured when the roof of a room collapsed near Shujaabad Road in Lodhran. Rescue sources said construction material for the roof of an adjoining house was placed on the old rooftop, causing it to collapse under the weight.
