The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Friday installed two handwashing stations and two hand sanitiser machines at the Islamabad Traffic Police office for the staff and visitors. PRCS Secretary General Dr Adeel Nawaz handed over the sanitiser and handwashing stations and antiseptic to SSP Traffic Syed Karar Hussain. Hussain thanked PRCS for the initiative aimed to promote precautionary measures in public places and government offices to defeat the coronavirus. Under this initiative, PRCS has installed 262 hand sanitiser machines and 250 handwashing stations at different public places, government offices and educational institutions across the country. In a statement, PRCS Chairman Abrarul Haq said that Covid-19 cases are on the rise once again and the efforts of PRCS to help the vulnerable segments will continue with utmost commitment until the monster is completely defeated. He said the Muhafiz Force set up by the PRCS helped vulnerable segments of the society through the provision of food as well as awareness about adherence to safety and security SOPs devised by the government. He further urged people to strictly follow health and safety guidelines to help the health authorities contain the infection, saying that bringing this “very dangerous situation” under control is impossible without public support. “The reality is that fighting such a deadly pandemic is a collective responsibility where people must do their part," adding that religious scholars should ask people to ensure the implementation of SOPs announced by the government in Friday sermons.
