Capital sees drop in Covid cases

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Friday said that 414 new cases of coronavirus were reported from the federal capital during the last 24 hours. According to an official of NCOC, as many as 562 cases were reported on Thursday while 209 cases were reported on Wednesday. He said so far 97,956 cases have been reported with 860 deaths from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). Meanwhile, according to data shared by the district health authority of Rawalpindi on Friday, 249 more positive cases were reported during the last 24 hours in the district. As per the latest data, 55 cases were reported from Rawal Town, 32 from Potohar, 59 from Rawalpindi Cantt, 17 from Gujar Khan, 36 from Kallar Syedan, 14 from Taxila, 10 from Murree, seven from Kotli Sattian, four from Chakwal, three from Kahuta, two each from Attock and Mianwali and one from Jhelum. Read Measures to curb Covid gain pace Presently, 226 confirmed patients were admitted to various facilities with 42 at Holy Family Hospital, 35 at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 91 at Institute of Urology, 46 at Fauji Foundation Hospital, four each at Bilal and District Headquarter hospitals while two each were admitted to Hearts International Hospital and Begum Akhtar Memorial Trust, the health authority report maintained. It further updated that so far 31,104 patients were discharged after making a recovery while 3,761 were quarantined with 2,011 at home and 1,750 in isolation. The report added that nine patients were on ventilators in critical condition while 99 were stable and 118 were on oxygen. Moreover, the positivity ratio during the past 24 hours was recorded at 8.86 per cent in the district, it stated. As many as 1,911,351 people have jabbed themselves so far against the deadly infection from 23 centres operating across the district since the vaccination drive launched on March 10.
