The country passed an important milestone in its nationwide vaccination campaign on Friday, administering anti-Covid jabs to 50 million people amid a surge in the fourth wave of coronavirus pandemic, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said on Friday. In a tweet, the NCOC “congratulated Pakistan for crossing 50 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine”. The forum urged the people to get vaccinated. "Let’s make Pakistan Safe" it said, adding: “In case you were due for second dose, just walk in to any vaccination centre after 28 days of the first dose.” The country this week registered a surge in the fourth wave of the infectious disease, fuelled by the Indian-origin delta variant, which saw a single-day death toll of more than 100 for the first time in nearly four months, while daily tally of new cases continues to stay above 4,000.
