The government of Punjab has regularised front desk employees at police stations across the province. On Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar in this regard issued the directions to the authorities concerned. Following his instructions, as many as 2,963 front desk employees have been regularised including 2,506 Police Station Assistants, 382 Senior Station Assistants, 37 Hardware Assistants, 37 Data Processing Officers and a Database Administrator. The employees had been employed a few years back on police stations to deal with computerised complaint redressal mechanism of Punjab Police and also update the record of computerised FIRs on contract basis. Read Right to consideration for regularisation upheld Since then, they had been working on contract basis and their salaries also had not been increased. The victims on various forums had raised their voices but these went unheard. Two days back, they had made announcement on social media to gather outside Punjab Assembly. However, the victims did not appear due to the threats hurled to them. On Thursday, the government addressing their grievances issued orders for their regularisation.
