Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday announced to abolish unnecessary amendments in Sugar Factories Control Act to make it more farmer-friendly. He announced during a meeting with Pakistan Kisan Ittehad Central President Khalid Khokhar who met with the CM at his office. Khokar thanked the chief minister and appreciated the steps taken by the Pakistan Tehreek- e -Insaf (P TI) government. The chief minister said bumper crops have been produced in the province and the growers have been rewarded for their hard work. “The sugarcane farmers had to protest on roads for payment of dues in the past and a powerful mafia was at the helm of the affairs pertaining to farmers. Vermicelli makers gear up to sweeten Eid The PTI government has given farmers their rights and legal protection has been provided to sugarcane growers,” he added. Meanwhile, dues worth Rs26 billion have been got recovered from sugar mills and the sugarcane farmers will get full reward for their hard work in future as well. “The farmers' rights will be protected and more facilities will be provided to increase yield, Buzdar remarked.
