Swindlers loot citizens near banks in Dijkot

Swindlers wearing police uniform have looted at least Rs800,000 from citizens in different areas in Dijkot, Punjab. The SSP operation released photographs of the fraudsters and ordered police personnel to arrest them. According to the police report, the manager of a firm in Saddar Bazaar area of Ghulam Mohammadabad, Mohammad Ilyas was stopped by men dressed as police officers, when he was returning after withdrawing money from various banks. The men told Ilyas that they had found Rs95,000 at the place and asked him if the money was his. Thus the suspects made him check money in front of them. Meanwhile, a disabled person arrived at the spot and asked if anyone had got his Rs95,000 and a gold chain. Read more: ‘Robber’ shot dead by accomplice When Ilyas expressed ignorance about his money, the men posing as policemen searched him and took Rs612,000 and a cheque of Rs50,000, his identity card and the key of the motorcycle from him and fled. Ilyas told Ghulam Mohammadabad police that one of the fraudsters was dressed as an inspector and the others had some police files. Fraudsters also took Rs14,000 from Ejaz Ahmed near Bawa Chak on Sargodha Road near DPS Chowk Mill. Separately they took Rs75,000 from Wali and fled. Police failed to nab the suspects after the series of incidents. The SSP operation shared the photographs of the men, who had looted the citizens outside the banks, with the Dolphin Squad and local police and issued orders to arrest them. Earlier, on March 21, a man was arrested who used to defraud people by promising anti-graft jobs. Police arrested the man suspected to receiving bribe from people seeking employment in the anti-corruption department. The suspect was allegedly caught collecting money from a citizen for recruiting a sub-inspector in the department. According to preliminary reports, the local anti-corruption police station registered a case against the suspect and started searching for his accomplices. The case was filed by one Shoaib Dildar in the police station, who alleged that Malik Qamar Latif, a resident of Chsk No. 209 RB Jaranwala Road used to visit his village and introduced himself as an employee of Anti-Corruption Establishment, Lahore.
