Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Muhammad Qasim Khan on Monday sought an explanation from Lahore Development Authority (LDA) in connection with non-regularisation of a private housing scheme. The LHC CJ passed the orders while hearing a petition filed by Muhammad Khan against non-regularisation of the housing scheme by the LDA. A counsel for the LDA told the court that a committee had been constituted for regularization and its meeting was scheduled on May 5. The counsel further stated that the committee included representatives of the P&D Department, Public Health Engineering Department and others. He stated that a survey had been completed and a report sent to relevant authorities. LDA Director General (DG) Ahmad Aziz along with others had appeared before the court. The chief justice raised questions on inclusion of some committee members and asked the reason behind their presence in the technical panel. CJ Muhammad Qasim remarked that the authority had failed to perform its functions properly. Published in The Express Tribune, April 27th, 2021.
