Two children drowned in puddle of kiln in the district yesterday. There was chaos in the area as families of the two searched for the bodies all day and were found late night on Tuesday. The bodies of both the deceased had been handed over to their heirs by the police after taking necessary action. As per the police report, Abdullah, 12-year-old, a resident of Chak 64 GB, was going to the fields with his 13-year-old friend Ahmed to fetch bread for his father when they were passing near the kiln of Abdul Razak, located outside the village. Abdullah's foot slipped and he fell into a puddle made to solidify bricks pit in which rainwater was accumulated. Ahmed rushed to the rescue and he too fell into the puddle. Both the children drowned as the puddle was too deep. Abdullah and Ahmed's family kept looking for them in and around the village but they could not find them. Around 11:30 pm, villagers searched the area around the kiln and found the bodies of children in the puddle. Upon receiving information, Thikriwala police reached the spot, took the bodies of the deceased into their custody and handed them over to their heirs after taking necessary action. Both the deceased were buried in the nearby cemetery. Published in The Express Tribune, March 25th, 2021.
