Lawyer tortured a senior citizen at Khanewal District Courts despite his apologies and pleas for mercy. The attacker himself recorded a video of the assault and spread it on social media. Police said the lawyer, Qaisar Javed, allegedly grabbed Muhammad Shafi, a resident of village 168R, who had come to appear in the district courts, and he started beating him in the presence of his supporters. Javed made a video of the assault and posted it on social media. In the video, it can be clearly seen that the senior citizen is sitting on the ground and is apologising but the advocate did not listen and kept kicking and slapping him. Lawyers and citizens standing nearby watched the whole incident. Additional Sessions Judge Ishrat Abbas informed the police that the lawyers were torturing a person. The police reached the spot and rescued the elderly man. Qaisar Javed alleged that the man was a drug dealer and involved in illegal occupation of land. He claimed that Shafi had tried to attack him first, after which he had responded. However, City Police Station SHO Iftikhar Lurka said both Shafi and Advocate Javed were residents of the same village. There were old feuds between both the parties in the village, the official added. The victim came to the courts to appear before a judge and was attacked by Javed.
