The district administration has finalised arrangements for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Nandana Fort on Sunday (today). Jhelum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pervez Akhtar and Jhelum District Police Officer (DPO) Shakir Hussain Dawar visited Baganwala on Saturday to check the route and parameters of the premier’s visit to the ruins dating back to the eighth century. Pind Dadan Khan Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mian Murad Hussain Nikokara gave a detailed briefing on the arrangements. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan will visit Nandana Fort on February 28. He is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone of three national parks in the Salt Range Basharat area in Jhangar Valley. The project aims to increase wildlife conservation along with honey production and improvement in olive cultivation. AC Naikokara said a walking track was also being constructed at Nandana Fort for the convenience of tourists. Nandana Fort is a place of historical significance where renowned mathematician Abu Rehanal al Bairuni measured the circumference of the earth. Built in the eighth century, Nandana Fort was strategically located on a hilltop overlooking the salt range. Published in The Express Tribune, February 28th, 2021.
