The Health Services Department under its Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) has launched its anti-typhoid campaign in Rawalpindi under which 1.876 million children between the ages of 9 months and 15 years will be vaccinated. Health Services Director (EPI Punjab) Dr Bashir Ahmed Siddiqui on Friday inaugurated the campaign by vaccinating children. According to the health officials, 123 union councils of Rawalpindi district have been selected for this campaign in which 1.876 million children will be vaccinated. Read more: Religious scholars push typhoid vaccination in Rawalpindi The drive will see participation from 1,101 EPI teams, while 225 supervisory union councils have been formed to oversee the campaign. The health department teams will visit schools and other areas to administer vaccinations. The health services directors (EPI Punjab) said the anti-typhoid vaccines would be included in the EPI programme from March, 2021 under which every child at the age of nine months would be vaccinated. The anti-typhoid vaccination campaign will last for 15 days while public awareness drive is also being carried out in collaboration with UNICEF along with the campaign.
