LHC summons PPRA chairman in person

The Lahore High Court’s (LHC) division bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed summoned Public Procurement Regulatory (PPRA) chairman in person over granting alleged illegal contracts of installing IT equipment in schools of 17 districts that caused Rs6.5 million loss to the national exchequer.

PPRA chairman shall appear in person and appraise the court that how PPRA rules are being implemented in Punjab, the bench remarked. How the basic rights of petitioners (aggrieved companies) are being protected through these contracts, the bench asked. The court was hearing an Intra Court Appeal filed by a petitioner who is the owner of computer tips Bilal Chughtai through advocate Imran Khan.
