Cop booked for SOPs violation

A police official was put behind bars for allegedly flouting SOPs regarding checking of female citizens during a raid conducted at a hotel in Lahore. A student of a private university alleged that she was staying at said hotel as her hostel was not open yet. The accused official, identified as Tariq Kamboh Shaheed Chowki In-charge SI Arshad, allegedly barged into the hotel after midnight on the pretext of checking suspects. After entering the premises without being accompanied by lady constables, he hurled abuses at the student. He also asked her to go with him to another hotel and give the accused her number. After the issue came to light, senior police officers suspended him and an inquiry was conducted against him, during which he was found guilty of violating SOPs. Reportedly, Lahore CCPO Umar Sheikh stated that the accused SI was not found guilty of harassment. A case had been registered under Section 155-C of Police Order (2002).
