Covid-19 claims 39 more lives in Punjab

The coronavirus pandemic claimed 39 more lives in the province whereas 2,823 fresh infections were reported on Sunday. Reportedly, the death toll from Covid-19 reached 6,227. According to data shared by the spokesperson for Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD), the number of coronavirus cases in the province exceeded 212,910. The P&SHD confirmed that 1,725 virus cases were reported in Lahore, five in Nankana Sahib, 14 in Kasur, 64 in Sheikhupura, 149 in Rawalpindi, six in Jhelum, three in Attock, four in Chakwal, one in Muzaffargarh, 13 in Hafizabad, 89 in Gujranwala, 56 in Sargodha, five in Mianwali, 56 in Khushab, seven in Bahawalnagar, 25 in Bahawalpur, 14 in Lodhran, four in Bhakkar, 20 in Sahiwal, four in Pakpattan and 12 in Okara. The Punjab Health Department has conducted 3,755,082 tests for Covid-19 so far, while 184,297 confirmed patients have recovered altogether. The health department urged the citizens to follow SOPs for their protection and cover their faces with masks, besides washing their hands with soap several times in a day, to protect themselves from the rebounding contagion.   Published in The Express Tribune, March 29th, 2021.
