Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Chaudhry Maqbool Ahmed inspected on Tuesday six housing projects on which have been declared illegal and legal proceedings have been started against their owners. According to a statement, they are French Housing Scheme, Akbar Villas, Maryam Green City, Khayaban Millat, Jinnah Town and Gulshan Farzand Ali. The RDA has registered first information reports (FIRs) against owners of these illegal housing schemes, namely Chaudhry Akbar Aurangzeb, Amir Shehzad, Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmed, Tariq Mahmood Toor, Raja Muhammad Ashfaq and Shamsh-ur-Rehman, the statement said. It added that Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Irfan Naseem Tarar had dismissed the bail of the owner of the illegal housing scheme Gulshan Farzand Ali but he had fled from the court on the occasion. “Legal action has been initiated against the illegal advertisements and sale of plots by these respective housing schemes. The authority has appealed to the public to refrain from buying and selling plots in the said housing schemes which have been declared illegal by the RDA.” Speaking during his visit, the RDA chief said no concession would be given to the owners of the illegal housing schemes. Ahmed was accompanied by the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate’s staff, including MP&TE Director Shahzad Haider, during his visit to Adyala Road. The RDA statement said the action against illegal housing schemes was under way on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Published in The Express Tribune, February 17th, 2021.
