Police have devised the security plan for forthcoming three T-20 matches between Pakistan and South African cricket teams at Qaddafi Stadium Lahore to be started from February 11. In wake of dangers of the second wake of Covid-19, these matches will be played without an audience. Under the security plan, more than 5,000 police personnel will perform security duty under the supervision of nine SPs, 24 DSPs, 65 inspectors, 365 sub-inspectors and upper subordinates. Capital City Police Officer Lahore (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, while giving details of the security strategy, said that revival of international sports in Pakistan was commendable and Lahore Police has played a pivotal role to promote International sports in the provincial capital by providing maximum security to these events. The Lahore CCPO said maximum efforts have been made to least disturb the business activities of the traders and businessman during the matches. “We will also ensure complete implementation on SOPs fixed regarding security to conduct the matches in a peaceful environment.” The CCPO was of the view that round the clock monitoring of the residential places of teams, routes, matches and movements of players in and around the Cricket Stadium will be ensured through the CCTV as well as Drone cameras.
