Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Muhammad Qasim Khan directed the district judiciary to decide, by March 31, the thousands of old cases pending across the province till 2016. Directorate of District Judiciary of LHC, issued a letter, with clear directions to all District and Sessions Judges across the province that the pendency of 5-year-old cases in sessions as well as civil courts till 2016 may be decided by the aforementioned date. Read more: Pendency of cases The data showed that 2,030 sessions cases were pending in the district courts of Lahore till 2016 while the number of civil cases was 37,728. Similarly, the number of five-year-old sessions and civil cases in Faisalabad was 190 and 6,490 respectively
