Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister on Agriculture Abdul Hayee Dasti has said the incumbent government was taking various steps for uplifting the agriculture sector. “The purpose of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government is to help the poor people especially small growers so that they can prosper and resolve their problems.” He expressed these views while addressing a seminar held at Rohilanwali for sunflower crop importance on Friday. The CM’s adviser further said that more than Rs300 billion were spent on the agriculture sector last year while a significant amount was also earmarked for this year. The advisor shared that the South Punjab Secretariat will be made fully functional from next month. He said that the international standards laboratories were being set up at district level to control substandard pesticide and fertiliser. He stated that the government will provide Rs5,000 per acre subsidy to growers over cultivation of sunflower crop.
